Corporate Social Responsibility

It has been almost a year since GreenTurf participated in Archifest 2013 (Dhoby Ghaut Green, 27 Sept -13 October 2013). At the invitation of Shophouse and Co, we were a part of this meaningful event that was organized by the Singapore Institute of Architects to generate awareness of architecture and urban design. Our products featured in the main Pavilion, The Experience Market and also at Macpherson Estate. More than 300,000 people visited the event and literally sat, jumped and stepped all over our artificial turf. Thank goodness for 5 year product warranties.

An article in The Straits Times yesterday reminded us of the fun times we had doing the project.

In this social experiment, we collaborated with students and faculty members of the Singapore University of Design to come make road crossings safer for the old and young living in Macpherson Estate. Car park lots were converted to mini parks for a day. To create a green backdrop, we used the GreenTurf DIY Artificial Grass Tiles.

These artificial grass tiles are easy to install, literally “click and clack” to join the tiles and also easy to remove after the event. This was in line with our intention of zero waste for the event.

The residents truly enjoyed visiting the “parks” that day. It is heartening to see the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) of Singapore take the idea further this year by converting some of the URA’s 10,000 coupon-paid parking spaces into temporary parks next Friday (18 Sep 2014). Although it may result in fewer parking lots that day, we hope you lend your support to this meaningful initiative.
