5 steps to a perfect rooftop event venue

We were happily tasked to help this client create the perfect rooftop venue to match this view. The venue is to be used for corporate events, wedding solemnisation ceremonies and birthday parties. The brief from the client was simple:

Make the place beautiful and welcoming with MINIMAL MAINTENANCE.   

So, armed with GreenTurf’s usual pragmatic approach, we set about transforming the rooftop into the perfect event venue with these five steps:

1. Photo Op Wall

These days, almost everyone is on the selfie bandwagon. Even our aging parents, yup. And any self-respecting party organiser has a photo op booth or wall. Cue the GreenTurf artificial green wall. Using the design OD013 Triple Delight, we created this green wall that is a perfect backdrop for people to take corporate-ish photos, or crazy fun ones. This vertical green wall does not take up any space, and does not need any watering, plant replacements or maintenance. We used only outdoor plants for this, meaning the plants can withstand the harsh UV rays from the sun, and will not discolour over time.

2. Artificial Turf Flooring

An event venue like this can easily see up to more than a hundred guests stepping all over the grass in one evening. Using natural grass would be disastrous in this case. We used GreenTurf’s Landscaping Turf BG35-NF to green the place. It can withstand the foot traffic trampling all over it, and lasts for a long time. We installed the turf with drain cells below to also provide heat and sound insulation to the room below. As for maintenance, artificial turf is known to require very little maintenance, so the client’s objective was definitely met.

3. Stylish Outdoor Furniture

Having stylish outdoor furniture adds a designer touch the place. Being outdoor furniture, they can withstand the harsh UV damage and strong winds and rain in Singapore, just like our artificial turf and artificial green walls. These are also easy to move around, just in case guests find a need to re-configure the seating arrangements for their party.

4. Pretty Potted Plants

We always advise clients to mix “live” and artificial plants. It’s much easier to maintain potted plants than those planted in the ground. Potted plants that are not thriving can be easily replaced be moving the pot. If they’re planted in the ground, you’d need a shovel and a pair of strong arms to remove the plants and replace them. These big pots of plants add to the beauty of the place without requiring quite as much maintenance.

5. Spot Lighting

Adding warm spot lights at strategic places add ambient lighting to the venue and makes it look so pretty at night. Nestling them amongst plants creates lovely shadows that makes the place more lively.
